what is Tendinopathy?

Tendons hurt because of being under constant strain from overuse

When do your Tendons reach their breaking point?

  • Overworked tendons, weaken and become painful, like a constantly pulled rope.

  • “Busy tendons” like  Achilles, shoulder, knee, elbow are most affected during daily movements.

  • Lack of rest can push them past their limit.

  • Healthy tendons have aligned collagen fibers, strong like bridge cables

  • In tendinopathy, fibers tangle, making tendons weak and painful.

The Painful Changes Happening Inside

  • Overworked tendon cells (tenocytes) can tire or die, weakening the tendon.

  • Tiny new blood vessels and nerves grow in, making the area extra sensitive and painful.

  • The tendon becomes stiff, sore, and less elastic, like a worn-out bungee cord.

  • Doctors can feel thickened or tender areas and use ultrasound or MRI to see frayed collagen and invading vessels.

In short, tendinopathy isn’t just a sore tendon. It’s a warning that your body’s ropes need rest, repair, and rebalancing.
